Puget Soundkeeper Alliance

Duwamish Alive collaborates with community, municipalities, non-profits and businesses within the Duwamish River watershed to preserve and enhance habitat for people and wildlife, towards improving the health of Puget Sound.

At the Duwamish Waterway Park site, volunteers work in shifts both on the land and on the water. On land, volunteers work with Seattle Parks and Recreation staff on park stewardship projects such as spreading mulch, weeding planting beds, and picking up trash. On the water, volunteers pick up marine debris from the Duwamish River surface and shorelines.

No kayaking experience is necessary as all training, equipment and safety instruction is provided by Alki Kayak Tours. Volunteers can team up in the double kayaks provided or bring their own boats. Canoes and other small watercraft are welcome. If you are interested in borrowing a “rental” kayak, provided for FREE courtesy of Alki Kayak Tours, you MUST call them to reserve a space: 206-953-0237. You will be registered by Alki Kayak Tours and do not need to register on the website. If you will be bringing your own kayak/canoe or if you are interested in volunteering on land only, please register on the Duwamish Alive website.

All materials, including bags, trash grabbers and gloves are provided. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.  Coffee, water and snacks will be provided.  Please bring your own reusable mugs, cups and/or water bottles.
