PSA's Sweep cleanup event on Lk Union, Portage Bay & Union Bay

Over 200 volunteers in kayaks, canoes, row boats and motorized craft remove 2-3 tons of trash annually from Lake Union, Portage Bay and Union Bay.  All volunteers are invited to Lake Union Park at 8 am for coffee and breakfast snacks before starting the cleanup at 9 am.  At 12 noon the cleanup is over and a lunch celebration with a fabulous prize drawing (must be present to win!) will take place at Lake Union Park.  Volunteers are also treated to a free Sweep shirt, all provided by event sponsors and Puget Soundkeeper Alliance.

Options for volunteering include:
•    Bringing your own kayak/canoe/boat and picking up trash from Lake Union, Portage Bay and/or Union Bay
•    Walking the shoreline picking up trash
•    Habitat restoration, pulling blackberries and weeds, at a site adopted by the Eastlake Community Council
•    Borrowing a kayak, canoe or rowboat from various locations, as space is available
•    Being on a support boat, picking up trash from kayaks/canoes/rowboats, as space is available
•    Helping coordinate logistics for the day (food, sign in, trash sorting and weighing, handing out shirts, etc.)

Please RSVP and let us know how you’d like to be involved (we’ll do our best to match you to your first choice) and what shirt size you prefer.
