Technical Issues and Support

The Puget Soundkeeper Alliance is firmly motivated by strong values for the health and safety of people and the environment.

We realize, however, that we must have strong underpinnings of science behind our work. To that end, we conduct ongoing research into the issues and problems facing Puget Sound.

Our involvement and engagement are focussed on designing workable regulations- the interaction of society, science and the environment.

Some of the issues we are working on:

  • Stormwater Treatment Technologies
  • Reduction of zinc and other metals in stormwater
  • Street Sweeping for toxic reduction in stormwater
  • Brakepads and copper in stormwater

Boatyard Stormwater Treatment Technology Study

Puget Soundkeeper Alliance joined with the Northwest Marine Trade Association (NMTA) and the Department of Ecology in sponsoring a Boatyard Stormwater Treatment Technology Pilot Project.  Both the NMTA and Puget Soundkeeper Alliance had appealed the Boatyard Stormwater General Permit for the second time.  Read the Executive Summary for the three technologies tested in the study.  Download the full report (pdf - 6 MB)
