Kinder Morgan, a company with a history of pollution, rule-breaking, and cover-ups, is proposing a massive expansion to the Trans Mountain pipeline, more than doubling its capacity. The pipeline carries tar sands crude from Alberta to Edmonton, and the expansion would mean a 700 percent increase in tanker traffic in the Salish Sea. The pipeline also threatens aquifers along the route. Spilled tar sands crude is nearly impossible to clean up. One spill would be a disaster.

The pipeline expansion threatens indigenous sovereignty, endangers the Salish Sea, and locks us in to irreversible climate catastrophe. We cannot let this pipeline be built.

First Nations in BC are taking on Kinder Morgan in court, using the same legal strategy that stopped Enbridge’s Northern Gateway pipeline. It’s a powerful strategy, but taking big oil and governments to court is expensive. You can help win this fight by standing with the Tsleil-Waututh, Coldwater, Squamish and Stk’emlupsemc te Secwepemc First Nations.
