Soundkeeper represents the interests of its members. As a Soundkeeper member, you advocate for stronger policies to protect clean water, you clean up our waterways and preserve critical habitat for wildlife, and you push industrial polluters to do better and follow the regulations put in place by the Clean Water Act. Together we protect and preserve Puget Sound.
Membership benefits include an invitation to our annual member meeting, voting rights at the annual membership meeting, and the opportunity to serve on Soundkeeper committees. All donations of $20 or above qualify for membership.
Membership is more than just a title. The Clean Water Act enables individuals and communities to take legal action to protect themselves from illegal pollution. Soundkeeper enforces the Clean Water Act on behalf of our members, and it’s because of you and your support that we’re able to bring cases to stop pollution from harming people and waterways, engage with businesses and other organizations to find solutions to the issues that threaten the Sound, and bring thousands of volunteers and students out into the Puget Sound watershed to work on projects that benefit our shared waters.
A Clean Water Act case cannot go forward without one or more standing witnesses — community members willing to testify in court about the harm done to them by the pollution addressed in the lawsuit. Being a standing witness is a powerful way to protect your local waterway. By becoming a member, you qualify to be a standing witness in Soundkeeper’s legal actions and help to protect our public waterways for all.
