FULL! Boat Patrol

February 14, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Volunteers on the Soundkeeper boat during a patrol down the Duwamish River.

Volunteer patrols form a central part of our effort to monitor pollution and prevent debris from reaching our waterways. While on patrol, we keep an eye out for abnormal discharges, oil slicks, and other emergent pollution. We also check for the application of best management practices by shoreline businesses. Along the way, volunteers will learn about the history of Seattle’s development and have the opportunity to view our waterways from a unique perspective.

Volunteers will ride as passengers in the Soundkeeper boat and help observe shorelines and waterways. Volunteers may help report pollution to an appropriate agency when necessary and assist in removing marine debris from the water.

No prior boating experience is needed and all necessary equipment is provided. Please wear closed toe shoes and dress comfortably in layers. It does get cold on the boat! We recommend bringing water and a snack.

Please let us know if you have a medical condition that we should be aware of on the boat, such as allergies that require an EpiPen.

We will contact participants in the event of a cancellation.

Time: 10:00am – 12:30pm

Location: Meet at the Elliott Bay Marina  – 2601 West Marina Place, Seattle, WA 98199

We will pick you up on the boat at the fuel dock!

To attend: Space is limited and filled on a first come, first serve basis. Call 206-297-7002 or email Gillian (gillian@pugetsoundkeeper.org) to reserve your spot(s).
