On Saturday, April 16th, celebrate Earth Month with Puget Soundkeeper, the Duwamish River Community Coalition/TAG, DIRT Corps, Port of Seattle, Duwamish Longhouse and Heron’s Nest at Duwamish Alive! We will be restoring habitat, improving water quality, and keeping public access space along the Duwamish River safe and beautiful at həʔapus Village Park & Shoreline Habitat.
Where? həʔapus Village Park & Shoreline Habitat (4500 Duwamish Trail, Seattle, WA 98106)
Two volunteer groups (A and B) will switch off between restoring shoreline habitat and removing marine debris from the Duwamish River by kayak and canoe. Heron’s Nest is graciously providing tandem kayaks, canoes, and kayak guides. Schedules and registration for volunteer groups A and B are below.
Group A Schedule:
- 9:45am – Volunteer sign in
- 10am -Speakers and welcome ceremony
- 10:30am-12pm – Kayak patrol
- 12pm-12:30pm – Lunch
- 12:30-2pm – Land restoration (native plant restoration)
Group B Schedule:
- 9:45am – Volunteer sign in
- 10am -Speakers and welcome ceremony
- 10:30am-12pm – Land restoration (native plant restoration)
- 12pm-12:30 – Lunch
- 12:30-2pm – Kayak patrol
