Duwamish Alive! Kayaking and Habitat Restoration

October 21, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

On October 21 from 10am to 2pm, join the Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition/TAG, EarthCorps Sound Stewards, and Puget Soundkeeper as we help to restore habitat, improve water quality and keep public access space along the Duwamish River safe and beautiful!

Terminal 107, or T-107 Park, managed by the Port of Seattle, is an important historical site originally built for the construction of a marine terminal that now overlooks the only remaining natural bend on the Duwamish River. T-107 also serves as a place for salmon and other wildlife to rest, feed, and escape from predators. Volunteers at this site will have the opportunity to join Puget Soundkeeper and Alki Kayak Tours in a kayak to remove litter from the river banks (minimum age to kayak is 13 years old). On land, volunteers will work with Sound Stewards and DRCC/TAG to weed, mulch, and plant new trees and shrubs.

As a volunteer at this site, you will be part of Duwamish Alive!, a restoration and cleanup event that makes lasting improvements to over 20 sites in the Duwamish watershed. The Duwamish Alive! Coalition is a collaborative effort of local communities, municipalities, non-profits, and businesses to learn about, preserve, and enhance habitat for people and wildlife and to improve the health of the Puget Sound. Restoration events are held twice a year. To learn more, visit www.duwamishalive.org.

Thank you to the Port of Seattle, Alki Kayak Tours, and the Rose Foundation for their support of this volunteer effort.
