FILLED – Duwamish River Boat Patrol

September 21, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Volunteer patrols form a central part of our effort to monitor pollution and prevent debris from reaching our waterways. The Soundkeeper boat is out on the water each week at various locations around Puget Sound. While on patrol, we keep an eye out for abnormal discharges, oil slicks, and other emergent pollution. We also check for the application of best management practices by shoreline businesses. Along the way, volunteers will learn about the history of Seattle’s development and have the opportunity to view our waterways from a unique perspective.

Volunteers will ride as passengers in the Soundkeeper boat and help observe shorelines and waterways. Volunteers may help report pollution to an appropriate agency when necessary and assist in removing marine debris from the water.

No prior boating experience is needed and all necessary equipment is provided. Please wear closed toe shoes and dress comfortably in layers. We recommend bringing water and a snack.

Time: 10:00am – 2:00pm

Location: Meet at the Elliott Bay Marina G dock. Free parking is available in the guest parking section near Palisade restaurant in the stalls facing the street in the back row. 2601 West Marina Place Seattle, WA 98199

To attend: Space is limited. Please call our office at 206-297-7002 or email Kerry (kerry@pugetsoundkeeper.org) to reserve your spot!
