FULL! Lake Union Kayak Patrol

December 8, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join Puget Soundkeeper for a Lake Union kayak patrol! During the patrol, you will help us monitor pollution and remove trash from our waterways.

No prior kayaking experience is needed, and volunteers are provided with all needed equipment (kayaks, paddles, lifejackets, etc). At the start of the patrol, volunteers will receive a safety overview that includes COVID-19 protocols. Volunteers and Puget Soundkeeper staff will then paddle to a designated area of Lake Union to monitor water pollution and remove trash. Kayaks are generously provided free of charge by the Northwest Outdoor Center.

If you have your own life vest you want to wear, we encourage you to bring it! Participants should expect to get a little wet and dress for the weather. Please note that there is limited storage space at the Northwest Outdoor Center. We ask that all participants limit personal belongings and, if driving to the site, keep belongings in their car.

Time: 11:00am – 1:00pm

Location: Northwest Outdoor Center (NWOC) – 2100 Westlake Ave N #1, Seattle, WA 98109

To register, please email Jessica@pugetsoundkeeper.org and she will send you the registration link.  We are only allowing 6 volunteers on our kayak patrols. Since space is limited, please only sign up for 1-2 kayak patrols a month.

COVID-19

Due to the surge in Covid-19 cases driven by the Delta variant, we have changed our volunteer protocols and waiver. Please be advised that Puget Soundkeeper will now be implementing a vaccination requirement for anyone volunteering with us until further notice.

We will also be requiring masks to be worn wherever volunteers cannot safely social distance – even outside – to reduce potential transmission of the virus. If you have any questions about this, or the vaccine requirement, please email Gillian@pugetsoundkeeper.org.

If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, nausea, shortness of breath, sore throat, body aches, or fatigue we ask that you stay home.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this time. Contact Jessica at Jessica@pugetsoundkeeper.org if you have further questions.
