When wastewater treatment plants discharge into Puget Sound, they also release excess nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus. Puget Soundkeeper has been working to make sure that wastewater treatment plants put in proper safeguards to prevent pollution from excess nutrients that harm our waters, fish, and animals that rely on healthy fish populations in the Sound.
