Pint-Sized Science: Machine House Brewing

February 12, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Pint-Sized Science, A Closer Look at Puget Sound

Please join us this month at Machine House Brewing for a family-friendly evening focused on learning about some of the work being done in the Duwamish. First we will hear from Rosario-Maria Medina, who will talk about the cleanup being done on the Duwamish River and the work that ensures a cleanup beneficial to the health of local communities. Next Emma Maria will present a three minute digital story about her role as a Community Health Advocate for EPA’s Duwamish Seafood Consumption Program, which is led by Public Health Seattle and King County. CHAs raise awareness in their respective communities about eating contaminated seafood from the Duwamish River Superfund site and how to protect health in culturally appropriate ways. Then we’ll hear from Soundkeeper’s Hillary Sanders about sampling for microplastics in the Duwamish River. We’ll close by talking about meaningful individual actions that audience members can take to reduce their impact on Puget Sound waterways. Feel free to bring children and food to the brewery, and please support Machine House if you are able!
