Pint-Sized Science: Orca Month

June 19, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Please join us for Orca Month at Ballard Coffee Works for an evening focused on learning about our endangered Southern Resident Killer Whale population. Lynne Barre will set the stage, providing an overview of the status of the population and the threats to their survival. Next we will hear from Jacques White about recovering the orcas’ favorite food: chinook salmon. Finally we will hear from Alyssa Barton about what policy initiatives Puget Soundkeeper is working on to reduce toxic pollution to Puget Sound and protect orcas and their food sources. We will end the evening hearing about meaningful individual actions you can take to reduce your impact! Come early to grab a seat, a drink, and some good food! This is an all-ages event.

Speakers:
Lynne Barre, NOAA
Jacques White, Long Live the Kings
Alyssa Barton, Puget Soundkeeper
