This legislative session, we made enormous progress for Southern Resident orca recovery by passing a suite of four bills to address threats of vessel noise and disturbance, toxics, lack of food, and oil spills. In celebration, challenge your friends, family, and colleagues to jump into the Salish Sea on Thursday, June 13 at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle!
The way the challenge works is simple: take a picture of yourself holding a sign to challenge your friends, family, and colleagues. Post it to social media with the hashtag #SalishSplash. Then join us on June 13!
Bring something to splash in, plus aqua socks or other protective footwear. We will provide all the participants with hot beverages, food, and LIVE MUSIC by Dana Lyons who is on his Rise for the Orcas Tour.
This event is organized by Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, Sierra Club Washington State Chapter, and Washington Environmental Council, Sound Action, RE Sources for Sustainable Communities, Citizens for a Healthy Bay, Friends of the San Juans, Toxic-Free Future, and People for Puget Sound.
Partners are also organizing satellite events around the Salish Sea, so if you can’t make it to Seattle, please splash at one of our satellite locations in Tacoma, Bellingham, or San Juan Islands (contact rein@wecprotects.org for details).
