On June 4th, join Puget Soundkeeper for the first cleanup of the Seattle Summer Sweep, a series of events focused on removing thousands of pounds of debris from Seattle’s urban waters. Volunteer groups will cover both land and water to care for the area extending from Salmon Bay through the Ship Canal to the north end of Lake Union.
Register now to borrow a kayak from the Northwest Outdoor Center or contribute your own boat to the effort. If you prefer to stay on dry land, join a restoration project in Ballard lead by Groundswell NW, or hookup with a shoreline crew dedicated to removing debris from along the Ship Canal in Fremont. Any bad smells will be covered by delicious scents wafting from Theo Chocolate! Afterwards, all participants are invited to Fishermen’s Terminal for a celebratory picnic lunch.
Registration for this event is now full! Please join one of our upcoming cleanups on July 5 or August 13.
We can still accommodate groups able to contribute their own canoes or kayaks. Contact Kathryn Davis (kathryn@pugetsoundkeeper.org) with questions.
