SUMMARY:Fremont Solstice Parade Fun!
DESCRIPTION:Puget Soundkeeper will be participating in the Fremont Solstice Parade this year and will be carrying our 15′ tall puppet\, Enki\, the God of Water\, in the parade.  We need one person to carry Enki (he’s a backpack puppet)\, and additional folks (4-5) to manage his arms\, eyes (yes\, they move!) and clothing. \nEnki is a street puppet that was built in Port Townsend\, Washington in 2019 by a group of local artists. Enki is the Sumerian God of Water … and of wisdom and creation! He reminds us that protecting the flow and purity of water is not a choice\, but a sacred duty that sustains all life. \nRegister here. \n

SUMMARY:Upper Duwamish Cleanup - Bring your Own Boat! [June 14]
DESCRIPTION:Under our Summer Cleanup Series and Salmon and Legacy Debris Project\, Puget Soundkeeper is hosting a Upper Duwamish River Boat Cleanup in Tukwila\, WA. \nThis cleanup will be a Bring-your-Own-Boat (BYOB) event\, but we will provide cleanup supplies\, water\, snacks and help get folks back to their cars at the end of the cleanup. We will need an additional 10-12 people who can help out on land at our base camps (at the put-in and take-out locations). Youth must be 16 years or older to participate and accompanied by a parent or guardian. \nIf you’d like to participate in the on-water cleanup and don’t mind bringing your own boat\, you can register here. \nIf you’d like to participate at our land-based cleanup at Codiga Park\, please register here. \nIf you have a flatbed truck that you don’t mind getting a little dirty\, we could use 1-2 trucks to haul debris from a drop off site half-way down the river. Contact Anna Bachmann at the email address below if you can help. \nQuestions? Email Anna Bachmann (anna@pugetsoundkeeper.org)

SUMMARY:Janet's International Coastal Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Join Janet\, one of Puget Soundkeeper’s volunteers\, at her International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) event on Saturday\, October 4th from 10:30 am to 12 pm. \nWhat distinguishes an ICC cleanup from a regular beach cleanup is the collection of data using physical data sheets or the Clean Swell app. By collecting data about the types of debris we find\, we’re helping build a global database that helps inform and produce legislation that protects the environment and communities from the negative impacts of water pollution. \nVolunteers should meet near the southeast corner of the Golden Gardens Bathhouse and look for Puget Soundkeeper flags on arrival. Bathrooms will be available\, and all supplies will be provided! All are welcome to join! \nPlenty of parking is available in the adjacent lots. RSVP here. \n**This cleanup is run by a Puget Soundkeeper volunteer\, not Puget Soundkeeper staff. We encourage our volunteers to attend if possible to support Janet!
