On December 11th at the South Park Community Center, Puget Soundkeeper was excited to help Cari Simson, a long-time Duwamish River advocate, put on a screening of the documentary Water Blues Green Solutions, proof that successful restoration efforts happen on the initiative of passionate communities.

DSC06783 Four vignettes followed stories of stormwater management in Philadelphia, cleanup of the Bronx River in New York, the widespread installation of green infrastructure in Portland, and water conservation in San Antonio.

Also at the screening, local community groups shared ongoing green projects occurring within our own Duwamish Valley and opportunities to get involved. They included ForterraRain WiseDuwamish River Cleanup Coalition/TAGPuget Sound Sage, the South Park Neighborhood AssociationTox-ickProvidence Regina House, and Solid-Ground/Marra Farm.

All of these groups are excellent resources for those looking to contribute to important local causes or learn more about the issues facing the Duwamish Valley.
