Today Puget Soundkeeper and Citizens for a Healthy Bay sued Electron Hydro LLC for alleged illegal water pollution from the privately-owned Electron Dam on the Puyallup River. The 117-year-old dam begins just 6 miles downstream from its Mt Rainier glacier source. This lawsuit addresses releases of pollutants including heat, sediment, solids, and dead and dying fish. The Puyallup River has a spring Chinook salmon run – vital to Puyallup Tribe and non-tribal fishers alike, as well as our endangered Southern Resident orcas. Stay tuned for future updates on this important case.
